Indie-rock group Titus Andronicus to headline concert sponsored by WERW, MEISA

Alternative indie-rock group Titus Andronicus will headline a concert in the Schine Underground on Thursday, March 29. The concert, presented by WERW and the Music and Entertainment Industry Student Association, will start at 7:30 p.m. and will feature openers Caveman and student group The Vanderbuilts.

‘There’s been a big want for a rock show,’ said Kyle Kuchta, assistant general manager for WERW. ‘There’s been a lot of rap and electronic shows here lately, and it gives students another option.’

Tickets go on sale Monday at the Schine Box Office to all Syracuse University and State University of New York College of Environmental Science and Forestry students for $4 with a valid student ID.

Titus Andronicus is a lo-fi punk band hailing from New Jersey. The group is set to release its third full-length album this year. Their last album, 2010’s ‘The Monitor,’ was ranked as Pitchfork Media’s 10th best album of the year in 2010.

‘Titus Andronicus has been on our radar for a while, and we finally decided to just go with it,’ Kuchta said. ‘I’ve seen them live, and they put on a great show.’

MEISA and WERW are also partnering with University Union to offer discounted tickets for Titus Andronicus and UU’s upcoming Bandersnatch concert. Students can purchase a discounted ticket bundle for $8 at the box office.

Said Kuchta: ‘There’s going to be two awesome shows, and it’s going to be even more affordable.’
