Joey Spallina took home the latest Atlantic Coast Conference Offensive Player of the Week honor, the conference announced Tuesday. Spallina’s nod comes after his 10-point performance in No. 2 SU’s win over Vermont last Friday.

Spallina’s five goals and five assists against the Catamounts were tied for the most points he’s scored in a single game since joining Syracuse in 2023. The former class of 2022 No. 1 overall recruit is proving to be even more of a lethal weapon from X now as a junior, picking defenses apart with his smooth passing and slick finishing ability.

Through the Orange’s first three games, Spallina leads the team with 10 goals and has spearheaded them to a 3-0 record. He also has a team-best 11 assists, which is the second-most in the country behind Providence’s Ryan Bell. Spallina’s seven points per game rank as the fifth-highest total in Division I, and his 21 overall points lead the nation.

Spallina is coming off a sophomore campaign where he made Inside Lacrosse’s Third-Team All-American squad. His 88 points were the most by a sophomore in SU men’s lacrosse history, surpassing the record head coach Gary Gait set as a player.

Syracuse’s star attack will face his largest task of the season when the Orange travel to College Park, Maryland, for a Saturday afternoon bout against the No. 6 Terrapins. Spallina was held to a modest one goal and two assists in SU’s loss to Maryland last February in the JMA Wireless Dome.
